In total 127 beneficiaries benefits from the Fairhills Chile initiative and various projects have been identified where the Fairtrade Premiums can be used to satisfy the general needs of the community.
2008
During 2008 the following projects had been earmarked by the trust:
- Continued support and assistance to local schools
- Providing and upgrading of heating systems in employee houses
- Improving drinking water supply to workers
2009
- Creation and investment in a dental plan for all employees, permanent and temporary, and their families
- Purchasing of school equipment and clothes for the children of all permanent employees
- Ongoing support to employees to improve or complete housing infrastructure
2010
- Assisting with the re-construction work of two rural schools after the Feb 2010 earthquake
- Helping beneficiaries get back on their feet after the Feb 2010 earthquake
- Ongoing support with regards to the dental and medical plans of employees
- Ongoing support with regards to infrastructure improvement and housing of employees
Future Goals
- Ongoing assistance to rural schools
- Construction of a community computer training center
