In total 210workers benefit from the Fairhills Argentinean project and various other projects that have been identified and where the Fairtrade premium can be used to make a difference.
2007
During 2007 the beneficiaries used a large portion of their Fairtrade premium to upgrade various rural schools in the region.
These improvements included:
- Replacing the ceramic tiles of the basket ball court
- Repainting of classrooms
- Fulfilling in the needs of the schools with regards to educational toys and learning material
A total 300 pairs of new shoes were also donated to various welfare societies
2008
Based on the success achieved during 2007, 2008 heralded a new year that allowed Fairhills Argentina to grow larger and do even more:
- Continued upgrading of schools in the area
- Donation of office equipment such as photocopiers and computers to schools
- Providing assistance to sports clubs in poor areas to help training equipment and uniforms
- Assisting a local feeding scheme in Lavalle by donating chairs and tables for their lunchrooms
2009
- Upgrading of bathroom and sanitation facilities at 2 schools in Medrano
- Uniforms to the soccer team of the harvest personnel
- Bought computers, office equipment and installed heaters at a rural school in Tucuman attended by children of the workers
- Donation of 20 computers to a primary school in Costa de Aruajo
- Invested in a dental plan for the families of the permanent employees
- Assist 2 rural medical centers in Lavalle to construct new waiting rooms for patients
2010
- Construction of a new Medical Centre to provide medical aid for the communities of Martillo, Junin and San Martin villages, all surrounding Medrano
- Purchase of medical equipment for the medical center in Martillo
- Assisting the local sport club in Medrano to complete the roof of its indoor sport facilities used by the community and schools of the district of Medrano
- Construction of an additional classroom at the Primary School, Isaac Melchor Chavarria
Goals for 2011
- Construction of a new kitchen facility at the primary school, Patricio Sguizzini
- Installation of a gas lines and facilities to provide gas for the heating system which was installed during 2010 at Primary School, Las Mercedes, in Tucuman
- Donation of 20 computers for the Primary School, Las Mercedes, in Tucuman
- Donation of 300 pairs of shoes and school clothes for the Lavalle Welfare Society
- Proceed with the housing project for 40 families in Los Vascos, Lavalle
